Art attack........

Joan Bakewell, Lynn Barber, Tracey Emin....... and me, all standing within wine spilling distance of one another. And then Zandra Rhodes rocked up in all her pink and purple glory........I thought I was going to self combust. We were all at Tate Britain for the opening of the fabulous Patrick Caulfield and Gary Hume exhibitions and what delightful shows they are. In lieu of any actual sunlight to raise our summer spirits, go fill your hearts and minds with the visual spledery that is their work. On now till September.

Top tip: the newly refurbed Tate Britain is brilliant, it's like all the pictures have been given a good scrub. Just go.

  9. I'd have recognised 4 of them as well! Which for me is good going. Tracey many years ago used to hang around a songwriters night I was part of when her boyfriend was involved. I saw him the other day in a cafe, he was sketching a guy sat at the front of the cafe quietly, he showed the sketch to me quickly as he left, finger to his lips... I wonder if I'll see a finished result in an exhibition one day and think - I was there I witnessed that moment and whether the guy who was the subject will ever know?

  11. Oh I wish I could go to the Tate. The next time Zandra Rhodes makes her trip from California I will stow away in her bag. Wow! Can you imagine what it must be like in her bag? So glad you had a wonderful time!!

  12. I have to take the Tate in very small doses--it seems to bring on Gallery Fatigue Syndrome very quickly.

Of course, it'd be different if I were sipping some fizz with the creme de la creme of the British art scene! Lucky you!
