Grow up........

I went to a 60th birthday party and she's not one of my parents' friends she's my friend.....when did my friends start turning 60? I made (almost) 60 cupcakes, to take with me, using Lily Vanilli's madeira seed cake recipe, omitting the cream and jam interior and adding the omega-3 seed mix instead, to make the healthy option......yeah sort of.
Also this week I realised I'm older than the Prime Minister......that's never happened before. How can I be older than the Prime Minister?

Top tip: go to the cinema and see Beasts of the Southern Wild...astonishing on every level.

  1. I have bought the Lily Vanilli book and am loving everything I have made so far. This week it was the cherry bakewells and oh my........ were they just THE best?!? I am getting too close to 60 for comfort now......... pffft!

  2. Your friend is exceedingly lucky to have such a talented baker as her pal, the cakes look delicious, such a lovely birthday treat.

  3. It is a little-known fact that omega-3 seed oil cancels out all the calories from the sugar and fat in cup cakes.

  4. These are gorgeous cakes; what a good friend you are! I'm not yet older than a president but I am the same age as our current president.

Ah well, I still Feel 18 even if the outside doesn't quite match up.

  5. This definitely resonates with me. I'm 51 and my handsome hubby turns 60 next month. That is a new one for us. I'm really liking of the idea of being/staying ageless.

  7. You've got me thinking about my friend's ages now and I realise I'm the oldest! What does that mean I wonder? I'd never thought about it before, I'm older than my hubby too. Those cakes look delicious and the fact that you made almost sixty of them shows a lot of dedication, it must have taken you all day! I haven't heard anything about that film so I'll have to look it up. xx

  10. What a great idea for the cakes, they look and sound scrummy. I am older than the PM too. With a friend getting a bad diagnosis this week, it has made me grateful to still be on the planet.

  11. I like it when our friends go first - having a friend who is 60 somehow paves the way, makes it okay for us.

Four years ago, I shook my head and smiled when I voted for the first president who was the same age as I am. Hope that I get to do the same thing in November!

  13. My sister is almost old enough to retire!! She is MUCH older than me, as I Like to remind her, but STILL, how did that happen. Weren't we always supposed to be the young ones? Have visited you before but neglected to become your follower. Fixed that now!

  14. It's so unfair that time speeds up as the years go on. I'm older than the PM too but hadn't realised it until you mentioned it. So thanks for that :-(

  15. Christ. I have just looked him up. Maybe I look younger. Maybe.

  16. This sense of being "older than" plagues me these days--I'm older than my president, older than my doctor, my dentist, my banker. It's awful. Guess I'll need to start trusting the young whipper snappers one of these days.

  17. I'm only 38 but I do understand that "older than" feeling very well. It was very acute during the Olympics- how young all those amazing athletes are!

I've heard great things about that movie- it's definitely on my must-see list!

  18. I know. We're just getting the 50 - I looked on facebook the other day at a big birthday party of Uni friends and i didn't recognise any of the blokes. Funnily enough the women had aged much better

  21. I am getting used to being the oldest in the room on family gatherings and won't mind being reminded of it for many years to come.
