50 ways to leave your lover.........

I knew what I needed to do. I needed to make the call and have the conversation. But I made breakfast-burritos instead, with eggs and mushrooms and chillis and cheese, for my son ....... even though he was asleep and didn't want breakfast........ until I knew it was too late to call that morning.

That evening I made a prawn curry..........

and raw carrot, mustard-seed and lime juice salad, instead of making the call.....

I couldn't make the call the next day either because I was busy. I was making homeade spinach and egg pizza for my mate Dave.......

It's not like we'd been seeing each other for a really long time, no plans made, no promises broken. And isn't it better not to lead someone on? He left me a message. Again. I was going to call back but first I made seafood tagliatelle with watercress and rocket salad.

But honestly, texting everyday from week one is a bit obsessive. We hardly know each other. And then there is the ex who is actually still the missus. And the problem at work caused by the affair....... So, I made lamb and bean stew with young garlic .....

.....called him and explained it was him not me. I served the lamb with different coloured kale grown in a pot outside in the courtyard. There wasn't very much but it was very fresh.

Top tip: Go see Once Upon A Time In Anatolia........ Tarantino meets Chekov against the bleak Tukish landscape of the Anatolian steppe.........utterly brilliant
