Summertime and the living was
easy…..but now it’s back to
school back to reality. Do we ever forget that September
feeling: new penil case, new shoes, new class? This time I
won’t mess up with my homework, stay on top of it, get
gold stars......

How quickly we forgot the
bleak mid-summer, heating on in
June.
June.
“I had to, it was freezing.” whispred behind hands,
Hot water bottles stuffed
beneath duvets, umbrellas and boots
ever ready, that was summer before July and then…..the sun
came out. And stayed out. Out and proud.

Oh oh oh. Fresh pencils and new shoes. I just love the smell.
ReplyDeleteLove this time of year! Definitely an autumnal feel in the air!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautifully written post, it was a pleasure to read....
ReplyDeleteIt's been glorious! Getting a bit chilly in the evenings, and autumnal generally, but a time for new beginnings.
ReplyDeleteI'm a summer fan but we're stuck in a major heatwave and I'm praying for the temps to dip. Guess I should be careful what I wish for because I do not like the cold. I yiyi.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the last days of sunshine.

I always feel that September is the start of a new year NOT January!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like summer in Oregon. lol. Yes, i loved to pick out a new pencil case and a new first day of school outfit. Life with no big worries. Fun. (Life is fun for me now, don't get me wrong.. i just like to look back.)
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you... Yes I have that back to school new start feeling especially now the mornings and evenings are getting chilly. It's good to make the most of the last of the warmer days. Julie x
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely pink cocktail! The summer here was ridiculously rainy. I am hoping for a dry autumn.
ReplyDeleteThere is a definite chill in the air, isn't there ? ..... but, what a wonderful Summer we've had. Autumn is a lovely time of year though and, I love getting my coats, jackets and boots on !
ReplyDeleteBUT ..... here's hoping that there's a little bit more sunshine to come. XXXX
Good to see you back! Now these nights are getting darker it's about time I booked my escape! x
ReplyDeleteFirst time visiting your lovely blog and I like the name!
ReplyDeleteYes.. back to a routine. Even though my kids are grown I still find myself doing lots of editing in September.
You always have such great piccies, those pink jandals begging to be worn some more weeks... We were having an Indian summer - 90 degrees! but now all faded away...sad.
ReplyDeleteIt is still summer here. In the 90's yesterday, but it can't last long... can it?
ReplyDeleteI think we live on different planets. And it's possible I prefer yours.
ReplyDeleteYes summer has disappeared fast here too. I love that line in "You've got Mail " where he promises to send her a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils in September - Even though my kids are no longer at school, September still feels like the start of a new year to me. Still time for a late flash of Indian Summer though xxxxxx
ReplyDeleteI am soooooooooooo glad that the south of Spain is also slowly cooling. Still 30ºc though.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics.

Ha Ha! yes, on our holiday in the Western Isles, I took a hot water bottle, and also a sleeveless vest-top and sun-hat. I actually used all three, at different stages of the week! The summer did get a lot better, though.
