OK……… traditionally this is a frugal time
of year. I don’t much like January and I really don’t like February. I just
want to stay in, stay warm, stay on the sofa and watch movies. And eat delicious food. However,
with money and my jeans now too tight to mention, filling the fridge is not an
option and a take away is out of the question. So, imagine my delight when I
discovered Legend In His On Lunchtime’s recipe for Vegetable Pakoras with
minted yogurt. http://thecookinyourkitchen.blogspot.com/2012/12/tis-season-to-empty-fridge.html
And as luck would have it, for Christmas I was given a whole bunch of spices a friend had brought back from his trip to Kerala.
I followed the instructions and grated a
selection of things at the bottom of the fridge……… in my case carrot, cabbage,
celeriac and onion….. mixed them with the spices and chickpea flour (also known
as Gram flour if you have trouble finding it) and
unbelievably they worked!
So easy and so delicious, I made them
three days running……. So much for the post Christmas diet.
Top tip: to combat cold weather, spice it
up in the kitchen…….
Hello:
ReplyDeleteThis all sounds very goodly indeed and sounds both easy and delicious. Generally we do not mind the winter months providing, of course, one can stay in the warm and, hopefully, eat comfort food which may not, understandably, necessarily be good for the waistline.
They look fab. January needs spicing up! Julie x
ReplyDeleteOoh, they look delicious, you have made my stomach rumble! I've eaten far too many chocolates over the festive period, I always treat myself to coffee, rose and violet cremes and a large Toblerone. Then spend January regretting it!
ReplyDeleteThey look healthy and delicious too! My new years's resolve lasted just hours. ;)

I'm on a new year veggie kick - this one will do nicely!
ReplyDeleteIf it's any consolation, my jeans no longer fit either.
Yum. I'm at the airport so slim pickins.
ReplyDeleteThey do look very yummy
ReplyDeleteThese sound delishusness ... Thank you so much for your visit and comment on my blog. Indian spices are the perfect thing for cold winter months... I will try these... A good way to eat plenty of veg... Cheers and all the best in 2013
ReplyDeleteDelicious.
ReplyDeleteIt is not too cold here yet.

I refuse to diet in Jan, it's depressing enough as it is. Clever layering and a stricter Feb (shorter month!) do it for me. I also have pakora envy...
ReplyDeleteYes, they look delicious!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to Wally Bell, my dresses are too tight... :)
ooh they look great. I made a veggie soup with a dash of warming chili !
ReplyDeleteWell thanks for that.. The minute the Shah catches sight of this I'm going to be manacled to the chopping board. Again. :-(
ReplyDeleteMe again,
ReplyDeleteWishing you and yours a Happy New Year filled with happiness, joy, good health and peace.
My best regards,
Sonia.
Thanks Jo, That's made my week. I hope you can find some more treats in the months to come.
ReplyDeleteOn the menu! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation...looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I'm all about fingerfood. I could live on appetizers. This one, for instance.
ReplyDeleteI am so making those:) YUM! Have a cozy day, sweetie
