We need to talk about ...... Olivia
Olivia Colman that is. Not only does she do comedy like a comedy queen ...... did you see Peep Show or Twenty Twelve or Rev....... but she can also make you cry. Did you see Broadchurch? The last episode? Not only was I watching an ITV cop show but I was bawling my eyes out.
I don't really do police procedurals as a rule, somebody did do it and it will be revealed....... it's either the last one to get interviewed or the first one to get interviewed but somebody missed something...... however, I was tuned in week after week to ITV's Broadchurch specifically to see Ms. Colman. And oh what a star turn. She's a national treasure in waiting, twice nominated for BAFTAs for Twenty Twelve and Accused, if she doesn't win something there is no justice.

She's superb - loved her in Peep Show and Broadchurch. Lots of articles about her currently - mostly hanging on the premise that *heavens* she's not very attractive, but is successful / good - I sort of know what they mean - she's not the archetypal TV beauty, but..... Well, I think's she's beautiful - and very talented! I shall Sky + Graham N. x
ReplyDeleteYes! I saw her in all those and she's fondly known in our house as 'Sophie' ;) (Peep show. I loved her in Green Wing too as the harrassed mum in the office, brilliant!xx
ReplyDeleteThe moment when she announced she had a Xmas present for Adam (in Rev, when they had promised no big presents this year) was SO touching; it didn't take a genius to guess her character was - at last - pregnant, but she still made tears start in my eyes they way she did it.
ReplyDeleteI loved Broadchurch and impressed myself by guessing whodunit the week before the final. A splendid actress indeed. Sarah x
ReplyDeleteOh, and the media critics who declare she is not beautiful have NO EYES!
ReplyDeleteYes, I love her. I don't know if she lives in Suffolk but we have seen (and possibly stalked her a tiny bit!) in Southwold. Julie x
ReplyDeleteLove her ..... loved her in Confetti too ( not the best film but some very funny moments ) where she played one half of a naturist couple ( the other half being Robert Webb ) who want to get married naked !!!! XXXX
ReplyDeleteShe is a wonderful actress....I didn't see "Broadchurch" but I know she has had glowing reviews from just about everyone.
ReplyDeleteI shall make sure I watch Graham Norton :)
I love Rev and was completely hooked on Broadchurch. She was great on GN x
ReplyDeleteSaw her on Graham Norton such a lovely lady loved it when she didn't know when the show was on!!! Very talented and so humble!
ReplyDeleteBookmarked Broadchurch. Apparently it won't make it to our side of the world for another many months.
ReplyDelete~ I simply must watch Broad church...Soo many fabby reviews...I just love the actress's name...OLIVIA is my daughters name and I always loved it...~ YEY we do need more sun...Ever so chilly here today! I am still dreaming of Greece, by the way....haha...Maria x
ReplyDeleteClearly Alan Sugar will have to make good on his promise to pull strings to make her a Baroness - and she was very funny telling a story about her teeth and Meryl Streep. Usually dismissive of ITV I watched Broadchurch for Olivia and David and will try her with Mr.Witcher tonight.
ReplyDeleteI loved her in Rev - I wonder if the beeb are planning on bringing it back? x
ReplyDeleteMust see if I can watch that. I also read today in NY Times about a Brit cop thing featuring women. Love that the Brits can do drama and comedy with real looking women. If they did that over here everyone would be waaay too glam to be relatable.
ReplyDeleteAnd what great BAFTA speech(es) she gave! Funny, self deprecating an endearing.
ReplyDeleteShe is amazing - we really loved "REV" - but then again Tom Hollander is extraordinary too - great actors xxx
ReplyDeleteAnd she won the Baftas that she so richly deserved!
ReplyDeleteShe IS beautiful and so I will look forward to seeing her in something. And it's been my experience that the older I get - the thinner the already-fine line between comedy and drama/laughing and crying :)
ReplyDeleteI watched all of those shows - she's fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI always watch Graham Norton and I saw t;he one with her on it last week ;here in little old NZ!!
